RAMPAGE THINKING OF TAKING UP BOXING AFTER MMA Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s submission loss this past Saturday to UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones has him contemplating life after MMA. Interestingly enough, the part-time actor isn’t talking about migrating towards the silver screen, but a future inside boxing’s squared-circle. “I hate fighting people who are scared,” Jackson told the ESPN UFC Podcast. “When you fight somebody who is scared, you never know what they’re going to do. They turn and run. “That’s why I’m gonna go to boxing. I’m gonna try boxing because they’ve got to stand with you. If I get knocked out, I don’t care because at least it’s a fight. Rampage owns an impressive 32-9 professional mixed martial arts record and became the sport’s first undisputed 205-pound champion when he unified the PrideFC and UFC belts in September 2007. Although he comes from a wrestling background, the charismatic fighter believes he’s found his next calling. “I’ve tried a lot of boxing,” Rampage added. “I’m falling in love with boxing and I know I can put butts on seats over there.” The UFC acquired Rampage’s rights when they purchased World Fighting Alliance in December of 2006. No word on how many bouts the 33-year-old has remaining on his current deal with the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion. In regards to his immediate Octagon career, Rampage would like to compete in the UFC’s Japan show on February 26th. Although he called for a rematch against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, the Brazilian’s calendar is full and a mulligan with Forrest Griffin has started to circulate through the rumor mill. |

| CARLOS CONDIT INTERVIEW WITH MIKE FLEIG Mike Fleig- Do you do anything differently now because it's a title fight, or do you keep it similar because of your success? Mike Fleig- "When you got the news about getting the title shot against Georges, what was your initial reaction and who gave you the news? Carlos Condit- "Um, I was blown away, I got pretty emotional. I started to tear up. Which was pretty awesome because I was in public, I had to try to compose myself thinking of all the hard work that got me to this point. My manager Malki Kawa was the one who I got the call from." Mike Fleig- Obviously you are fighting Georges St Pierre, one of the pound for pound best and possibly one of the greats the sport has ever seen. So what do you think of your new UFC 137 opponent? Carlos Condit- " I've always been a big fan of Georges, I've admired his style and kinda of the way he carries himself and I'm honored to get in their and challenge him for the belt and step in the cage with him. With all that aside I think that I'm the best welterweight in the world and I've been trying to prove that every single time I get in their and this fight is going to be no different." Mike Fleig- GSP and yourself are associated with the Greg Jackson Camp, so how often have you and Georges actually trained together? Carlos Condit- "We actually never did. There was a time or two when we were training in the gym at the same time, but I think we kind of seen this fight on the horizon. We were always cool and always friendly with each other but he would kind of be doing his thing and I would be doing my own thing. We have never sparred and that would be the best way to get to know somebodies style." Mike Fleig- What did you think of the whole Nick Diaz situation? Carlos Condit- " It's a great opportunity for me, but I think whether Nick did what he did or he didn't, I still think I deserve the title shot. I didn't get it by default or anything like that. With that being said it's unfortunate for him. At this stage of the game it's not just fighting. It's selling the fights, you got to show up and do the P.R. It's not always fun but it's part of it. So it is unfortunate for Nick, he kind of blew his opportunity and I think he would have been a tough challenge for Georges. But you got to do the footwork and sell the fight." Mike Fleig- When you have these wins over guys like Rory Macdonald and Jake Ellenberger and you see the success they are having after that does that make you feel better about those wins now or is that not something that you pay attention too? Carlos Condit- "Yeah for sure. After I beat them and they keep doing well and dominating like they have been it makes my wins over them even better. But even when I fought them I knew that they were the real deal and go far because they both gave me problems at certain times during those fights." Mike Fleig- What was your take on the Floyd Mayweather controversy, would you ever take a win like that? or do you expect to see anything like that in an MMA fight? Carlos Condit- " I think they were both kind of in the wrong. Ortiz with the head butt and then Mayweather with the cheap shot basically. Between two fighters things happen in there and things get heated sometimes, but where the fault really lies is with the referee. When I first saw the highlight I thought it was going to be a no contest and then I saw the ref starting the ten count. I would hope we never see that in MMA, but things happen so you never know. For the most part when guys are touching gloves or in that sort of a situation everyone is pretty respectful but again you never know. Sometimes things happen. Mike Fleig- Thanks for your time Carlos, anyone you want to thank or anything you want your fans to check out? Carlos Condit- Everyone please check out Campcondit.com we put lots of content up and training sessions. Video blogs and all really cool stuff. Follow me on twitter @CarlosCondit. |

QUINTON ALREADY HAS HIS NEXT OPPONENT IN MIND![]() "I want to go to Japan in February and fight Shogun. That's what I want, a rematch with Shogun in Japan. Lets put it together Dana," Jackson said following his bout with Jon Jones at UFC 135. Jackson and Rua first fought each other nearly five years ago in Pride Total Elimination 2005, Rua would emerge the victor after stopping Jackson in the first round due to TKO from soccer kicks. Since their meeting both men found their way to the UFC and have also held the UFC's light heavyweight championship belt at least once in their career. Jackson recently attempted to recapture his former title from Jones at UFC 135 but was unsuccessful, falling to a rear naked choke in the fourth round after being thoroughly out pointed in rounds prior. Rua is currently scheduled to fight another former Pride star in Dan Henderson at UFC 139. If Rua can avoid serious injury during that bout, a rematch with Jackson is possible. "I didn't know he was fighting Henderson but it would be a dream come true," Jackson added. The targeted date for the UFC's return to Japan is February 26, 2012 with the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama playing host for the event. Other former Pride stars, Wanderlei Silva and Mirko Filipovic, are expected to make an appearance. |

| QUINTON JACKSON DISCUSSES HIS FUTURE IN FIGHTING WITH BAS RUTTEN Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, despite his moniker, is a kind, fun-loving warrior. This becomes fully evident during Jackson’s interview with Bas Rutten. Leading up to his fight at UFC 135 with Jon “Bones” Jones, Jackson has being doing lots of press. He and Jones even appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier in the week. Jackson has seemed incredibly confident (and, as always, hysterical) in every interview he’s had. |

RAMPAGE VS JON JONES!! YEAH BUDDY!!![]() UFC 135 Real Time Conference Call Highlights Read below for real-time quotes and other various items of interest from the conference call: Quinton Jackson: - “I treat him the way I treat him because I have no respect for him.” - Sees his experience as an advantage and is motivated by being the first person to beat Jones / “Everyone’s counting me out and it seems he’s underestimating me a little bit so it makes me more confident I’ll be the first to beat him in MMA.” - Says he wants to relieve the pressure of Jones’ being undefeated (essentially) by “whooping his ass and letting him become the great fighter I know he can be” - Felt Jones was being cocky at an earlier press conference / Didn’t know if he was joking but he took it seriously - Not looking forward to fighting Rashad Evans again just based on Evans’ style not being fan-friendly / Says the fans lost that first fight - Doesn’t feel Jones beat a “real Shogun” based on Rua’s health - Knows he isn’t alone in seeing Jones as a fake / “He puts on a real ‘good boy’ act in front of the cameras.” Jon Jones: - “Ultimately, I’m very award of why I’m here. I’m not here to show I’m a better talker – at arguing, at insulting – that’s not my mission. If I had it my way I would do very, very limited media if possible but this stuff is recommended and somewhat mandatory.” - Was bothered by the notion fans might even believe the “ludicrousness” of Jackson’s accusation of spying - “I’m aware of who I’m up against. I’m aware of the character I’m up against. I’ll have opponents in the future who will be talkers as well so this experience is just educating me.” - Felt there was more pressure in preparing for Mauricio Rua based on his athleticism and the short-notice situation - Liked “The A-Team” - “I definitely have a lot of respect for ‘Rampage’. That’s why I’m so excited about fighting the guy. For me there’s really nothing personal. I don’t have any beef. I’m looking at it as skills vs. skills.” - Held “Shogun” in higher regard because of the similarity of their ages in terms of when both became champions but says it’s still an honor to fight Jackson - Doesn’t feel he’s insulted Jackson at all other than maybe saying he felt he was going to beat him - Not looking past Jackson so hasn’t thought about a possible TUF season with Evans as a fellow coach - Said Brandon Vera was the only other fighter to have gotten under his skin a bit - Feels he fights better when he’s angry because he prepares better but doesn’t feel particularly mad at Jackson because he understands the way “Rampage” is. Check out the appearence they both made last night on Jimmy Kimmell.

UFC 135: RAMPAGE IS "HEART ATTACK" SERIOUS ABOUT GETTING HIS TITLE BACK FROM UNTESTED JON JONES![]() It's no secret that Quinton Jackson hates to train for his upcoming fights. But just because being a gym rat is not on his list of favorite things to do, doesn't mean that "Rampage" doesn't take his job serious. Especially, when a world title is on the line. And even more especially when that world title is the one he is responsible for unifying back in 2007. |

| MINOTAURO AND MINOTOURO READY FOR MIR AND ORTIZ AT UFC 140 By Guilherme Cruz Photo Debora Serrano Rodrigo and Rogerio Nogueira has been called up to get into action on the same night for the first time in UFC. The athletes, who has fought five times on the same event (with seven wins and three loses), faces Frank Mir and Tito Ortiz, respectively, at UFC 140, on December 10th, and their coach, Luiz Carlos Dorea, is excited about it.“With Rodrigo and Rogerio fighting together it’s twice as exciting… It’ll be one of the best cards of the year”, claims the Boxing coach, confident of Rodrigo’s win after he has knocked out Brendan Schaub in UFC Rio. “It’s a completely different story now, he’s 100%”, guarantees, reminding about the previous loss of the heavyweight fighter to Frank Mir in UFC 92, when he was knocked out. “He got healed from the injuries, he’s a completely new athlete now… This rematch has been wanted by all Brazilians. It’ll be a great fight, everything we were hoping for”. Tito Ortiz vs. Rogerio Nogueira has been schedule for last year, but an injury prevented the American fighter to actually attend to their meeting. Recently, the Brazilian athlete had to cancel another bout, this time against Rich Franklin due to an injury, but the coach guarantees he’ll be ready to go. “Tito is a great athlete and it’ll be a very good fight. Rogerio was doing great for his bout with Rich Franklin, but unfortunately got injured… The fans are really longing to see this fight”, concludes Dorea. |

Barnett ate a couple of hard shots from Kharitonov in the first minute of the first round, and he quickly decided to go for a takedown, which he was able to secure without much trouble, landing in full mount. From there Barnett simply bided his time, landing punches and waiting for Kharitonov to give him an opening until he was able to sink in the choke that he wanted. Once the arm triangle was in, Kharitonov tapped quickly. |

UFC QUICK QUOTE: CARLOS CONDIT HONORED TO FIGHT GEORGES ST. PIERRE FOR THE WELTERWEIGHT TITLE. "The timing was perfect for this to all come together. First I want to thank the UFC for allowing me this opportunity and also my agent Malki Kawa who saw an opening and took advantage of it. With me already fighting on that card, I will need to make some adjustments to get ready for a new opponent, but my actual training is still right on schedule. It's an honor to be able to fight for the championship, especially against one of the legends of our sport in Georges St-Pierre. I've been fighting for nearly a decade and there has been a lot of blood, sweat and tears that has gone into that. A lot of sacrifices have been made both personally and professionally, and I'm looking forward to showing the UFC that I am deserving of this opportunity."-- Shortly after it was announced that Nick Diaz had been removed from the main event of UFC 137 on Oct. 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada it was revealed that stepping in to replace him for a welterweight championship fight against Georges St. Pierre would be Carlos Condit. "The Natural Born Killer" has been working his way through the 170-pound ranks with a quiet efficiency, piling up bodies and "Knockout of the Night" awards along the way. A combination of timing, good luck and social anxiety has led to his earning a chance at one of the pound-for-pound best fighters on the planet and one of the most prestigious titles in the world. For all that, he is "honored" and looking forward to showing he deserves to be put in this spot. Sorry, B.J. Penn, Condit has bigger fish to fry. Are you looking forward to the fight as much as he is? |
